GOSHEN-- New World Arts is proud to present "Loves Lies Bleeding," a family drama by Don Delillo and directed by Philip Stoesz.
In this beautifully written and performed show, a family considers what to do when their father, artist Alec Macklin, is left in a vegetative state after a second stroke. Alex’s son, Sean, his second wife Toinette, and fourth wife Lia contemplate the ideas of life, mercy killing and the metaphysical consequences.
The show circles the complex questions of life support but also on the complexities of memory.
"The characters are so drawn by their memories of Alex," Stoesz said, "memories which are torturous and euphoric, memories that pull them into love and force them to confront what they all have been avoiding: Alex's absurd hold on their lives."
"I hope people will feel the deep sense of memory, how that memory ties into loss and eventually leads to redemption."
"Love Lies Bleeding" will open at New World on August 13 at 8 p.m. with appetizers served beforehand. Other performances will be August 14, 20 and 21 at 8 p.m.
