FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jujitsu Master Offering Workshops at New World Arts
With over 20 years of experience, jujitsu black-belt Anthony Gouin will be teaching an 8-week series of workshops on a variety of martial arts at New World Arts, 211 South Main Street in downtown Goshen.
Through the workshop, Gouin will teach ground defense, boxing, proper and effective kicking techniques, Kempo, Aikido, Judo, knife, stick, and traditional Japanese Jujitsu.
Gouin has advanced rank in tia-kwan-do, aki-jitsu, and kosa-ryu jujitsu, and has taught aki-jitsu, and kosa-ryu jujitsu for five years. He also has the power to bestow rank up to a green belt in aki-jitsu and kosa-ryu jujitsu.
“What is unique about what I will be teaching,” Gouin said, “is that you can't learn it at any one place. You would literally have to take about six different arts separately and then learn how to fit them together either on your own, or in yet another class.”
Gouin said people should do jujitsu because they enjoy doing it, but that there are several health advantages.
“From what I have seen,” he said, “you will practice jujitsu only if you love it, love doing it, and love how it makes you feel. Now that being said, the side effects are increased strength, better cardio fitness, greater flexibility, and self-confidence. It's like getting a work out by accident.”
Eight spots are still available for the 2 to 3 p.m. sections, with several spots still available in the 3 to 4 p.m. class as well. Classes will run every Sunday at those times from Jan. 10 through Feb. 28. People must commit to the 8-week series, but can decide at the end of the 8-week series if they want to continue, or if another person can fill their spot in the class for a following series.
The 8-week series is $96 per person, but a $40 payment is required to reserve a spot. Contact Laura Gouin at lgouin@newworldarts.org to reserve a spot.
