New World Arts Presents Visual Artist Susan Mulder in the first exhibition in the New World Arts Gallery
With the first show of their season quickly approaching, New World Arts is also proud to premiere of their recently installed gallery with Holland, Michigan artist Susan Mulder. To launch the 4-month long gallery, New World Arts will host a reception for Mulder September 16 at 7 p.m., immediately preceding the second performance of the Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, the first show of their theatre season. The free reception will offer the public a chance to speak with the artist, as well as enjoy a wine tasting from local winery Gateway Cellars.
Mulder, a recent graduate of Kendall College of Art and Design, has been a regular contributor to the artistic community in West Michigan since 1997. Mulder has received awards for abstract work in painting and sculpture at a variety of shows and juried competitions. She has also served on various local arts boards and held curatorial leadership positions since 2000.
New World Arts has held art exhibitions in its space before, but Mulder marks the first showing of art using the gallery setup recently install by New World Arts art director Daniel Palmer, event director, Cassie Greer, and Goshen College technical director Jerry Peters. The gallery space extends from part of the building large stairwell to the brick-backed "flex" space.
"Susan can see pattern and chaos existing side by side, in nature as well as humanity," said New World Arts art director Daniel Palmer. "She understands and explores how foundations and building blocks are at once ordered and entirely disturbed. By relying on her basic elements, on basic instruments, she is also reminding us that we don't need to resort to technology and sensory tactics to appreciate art as something novel."
The gallery will hang in New World Arts from September 16 until December 10. More information on Susan Mulder can be found on her web site www.samulderoriginalart.com. More information on the New World Arts Gallery, as well as the first show of their season, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, can be found on their website www.newworldarts.org or by calling (574) 975-0311. New World Arts is located at 211 S. Main Street in Goshen, Indiana (park and enter off of Third Street).
