"At first glance, “Our Town” just looks like an odd choice for New World Arts to produce.
The Goshen-based theater has a reputation, after all, for producing intellectually probing and experimental, edgy works, usually written within the last 10 years or so.
On closer examination, and re-reading, however, New World’s production of Thornton Wilder’s 1938 classic makes perfect sense, and not just because it fits thematically with this season’s theme of community.
'I suppose it’s true that in outward appearances New World has chosen edgier pieces, but New World has always chosen pieces that address humanity,” director Laura Gouin says about “Our Town,” which opens tonight at the theater. “It’s life, it’s death, it’s birth, it’s marriage, it’s human.'"

So come and get out of the heat tonight in our air conditioned theatre and join us for our opening night performance of Our Town. Come early at 7:00 p.m. and enjoy some light refreshments with the cast of Our Town and staff and board of New World Arts.
Our Town Performs:
Fridays and Saturdays July 18-20, 25-26 at 8 p.m.
Sundays July 21 & 27 at 3 p.m.
$15 general admission
$10 students/seniors
*Mention "heliotropes" when you call and receive $5 off any ticket for opening weekend of Our Town.
Due to our limited seating, we recommend you reserve your tickets in advance by phoning 574-975-0311. We will not take same day phone reservations. If you would like to reserve a ticket the day of the performance, you must come to the box office 1/2 hour prior to show time.
**Note: The first Sunday performance on July 21st falls just following the parade in Goshen. Please give yourself extra time as parking may be difficult.
